Dental care in the United States is delivered mostly by private practices: a general or family dentist who handles exams, cleanings, fillings and crowns, and refers out anything that needs a specialist. Group practices and dental clinics put several dentists, hygienists and sometimes specialists under one roof, often with evening and Saturday hours. Most offices ask new patients for a comprehensive exam with X-rays before routine cleanings, which the American Dental Association recommends every six months. Prices are set by each practice, and most accept dental insurance (PPO plans more widely than HMO ones), CareCredit-style financing or an in-house membership plan for people without coverage. Emergency dental services take same-day patients for toothaches, broken teeth and abscesses, usually at a premium.

This place had weird vibes. My guard immediately went up when the front desk personnel told me the clinic didn't take insurance, despite having been told over the phone while I was making my appointment that after the initial $195 fee, insurance would kick-in. I would never have come in knowing they wouldn't take my insurance. One of the staff members even called me "mean" because I only engaged in required questions. But like, the place gives scam. I was not comfortable after realizing they brought me in on false information. After several Xrays, I asked if I would receive a complete exam of my teeth, was told yes, but when the doctor arrived, she only poked around at the tooth I had the complaint about. The doctor also seemed to be taken aback that I hadn't taken any pain medication. Asking additional questions to determine why I hadn't. I walked in at a low 4 pain level and walked out at a 7. But it would have mattered if it got to 10, I was not letting them do anything to my mouth.

On the positive side, the dentist performed an emergency root canal within a few hours of my starting to book an appointment and I'm grateful that service existed because I was in a fair bit of pain. On the neutral side, the cost was high $2200 all in for a root canal with no crown placed. That's well above market average rates, but you're paying for convenience/emergency care so I think it's kind of what you would expect. The bedside manner for the dentist was also a little lacking (not a lot of explanation for what she was doing during the procedure, not a lot of information provided beyond a basic diagnostic and set of treatment options, and she seemed a little stressed/rushed). On the negative end, and this drives basically the entire review rating, the dental assistant was the most incompetent medical professional I've ever dealt with nearly to the point I would question her training, state of mind, or sobriety. She made mistakes and lacked basic clinical understanding at basically every turn during the procedure. She initially provided wrong information on billing claiming I would be charged for the crown whether I opted for it or not as it was "part of the package". She ap

I genuinely cannot figure out how this place has such high reviews! I know that they have SO many reviews because they ask to you review them several times over while there. I went here in severe pain. I made an appointment before I went. Despite an appointment, I waited 3.5 hours to be seen. Once I had x-rays done, I sat in a patient room alone for another 60 minutes. Occasionally, a provider would walk into my room, look at me and say nothing, and then leave. No questions. No update on how soon I would be seen. Then, the doctor did absolutely nothing for me besides providing prescriptions, and told me I needed a specialist and sent me on my way. The staff were all very polite and friendly which is why I did not rate them 1 star, but it was a terrible experience. On top of that, they charge $195 to walk in the door and it cannot be reimbursed by insurance. And they gave me a list of things I need done in the future with the bills and it was nearly $6,000 with insurance coverage for (albeit a lot) of pretty basic work! These people are bandits.

They were great!! Everyone was super kind. They took me in at 7PM and stayed late until my procedure (and others) were completed correctly. They explained everything very well, and sent me home with lots of things to take care of my mouth and gums with. I was surprised at how kind and accommodating they were. While I hope not to need emergency dental work on a weekend again...If I do, I know where I'm going!
